Transfer Information

Admission to Northern Kentucky University is based on academic performance. A minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale is required. Transfer credit will only be awarded to students who have earned credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Transfer students must be in good academic standing at their most recent institution and meet transfer criteria.

Admission Steps

  1. Complete and submit the online Application for Undergraduate Admissions with a $25 non-refundable application fee by the following transfer application deadlines:

    Fall

    Spring

    Summer

    August 1

    December 1

    May 1

  2. Request official transcripts from all institutions attended to be mailed directly to NKU, Office of Admissions, Nunn Drive, Highland Heights, KY 41099.

     

    You are responsible for contacting all previous colleges attended to request that an official transcript be sent to NKU. Most universities require this request to be in writing. You may print our Undergraduate Transcript Request Form to send or fax to the colleges you attended, or send them a personal request. If you live in the area, hand-carried transcripts in a sealed envelope are accepted as official. It is your responsibility to confirm that your records have been received at NKU.

     

  3. The Office of Admissions should notify you approximately two weeks of receiving your completed application. Please contact the Transfer Services Office with questions regarding the status of your application.

Advising

Contact your program advisor after your admission to the university to discuss your degree requirements and registration information. All new online students must contact their advisor by phone or email prior to registering for courses.

Registration via Norse Express

Norse Express is the NKU student portal where you can interact with NKU in real time over the Internet to:

    • Register for classes
    • Pay your tuition
    • Update your address and personal information
    • Check your schedule and grades
    • View your transcript and degree audit
    • View personal financial aid information
    • View your account summary/credit card payment
    • Link to the Student Financial Assistance Office
    • Link to the undergraduate catalog
    • Access your student Email account information
    • Link to Blackboard - your online learning platform.

Information regarding Norse Express will be sent to you with your acceptance information. Questions regarding Norse Express should be directed to the Registrar Service Center at (859) 572-5556 or Email registrar@nku.edu.

Undergraduate Online Program Tuition and Payment

2007-08 Academic Year:

Tuition for students in a declared online program is as follows:

  • $248 (resident rate) + $20 per credit hour for all courses Web-based courses

  • Based on residency for all non-web-based courses

  • Non-Resident students in a declared online program of study are not eligible for the Non-Resident Transfer Award

Please note: There is a $20 per credit hour fee for all web-based courses.

Tuition is due one week prior to the start of each semester. Visit the Bursar Operations website for additional payment information.

IIf you officially withdraw or drop a class(es) by the appropriate deadlines you MAY be eligible for a refund. See the Academic Calendar for specific refund deadlines and view the Refund Policy.

NKU Bookstore

Students may purchase textbooks and other course materials online from the
University Bookstore or by telephone: 859-572-5141.

Steely Library

You are eligible for Distance Learning Services at the Northern Kentucky University W. Frank Steely Library.
